Originating in Pomerania (Central Europe) in the eighteenth century, the Pomeranian was developed as a lapdog companion by breeding larger Spitz-type working dogs. They are little, yet they have a bold and perceptive nature. Although they don’t shed much, regular brushing and occasionally professional grooming are necessary to prevent matting in their fluffy double coat.
